AIPA-43 President Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei HENG SAMRIN Highlights Five Main Points Scored​ by the 43rd AIPA General Assembly

The 43rd AIPA General Assembly has been successfully concluded, making tremendous contributions to strengthening parliamentary mechanisms for sustainable development, improving peoples’ livelihoods, and addressing regional and global challenges.
 
 

 

 

 
The closing ceremony of the 43rd AIPA General Assembly was held on the morning 24 November 2022 at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel and Residence under the high presidency of Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei HENG SAMRIN, President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia and Rotating President of the AIPA-43.
 
 
Addressing the closing ceremony, Samdech President highlighted five important points that have been achieved by the 43rd AIPA General Assembly as follows:
 
-First, AIPA’s relevance is rising and its external partnership building is gaining new momentum. It is an important milestone in AIPA history that we welcomed three new observer parliaments at the same time.
 
-Second, mutual trust and understanding within AIPA and between AIPA and observer parliaments have been remarkably enhanced.
 
-Third, we have adopted many resolutions under the frameworks of WAIPA, ​YPA, political matters, economic matters, social matters, and organizational matters.
 
-Fourth, we have demonstrated a spirit of unity and solidarity. ASEAN’s unity and centrality have been enhanced.
 
-Fifth, we have proven that the principles of consultation and consensus-based decision making remain fundamental to ASEAN’s unity and centrality.
 
 
He continued that AIPA, the legislative body representing the will and interests of more than 650 million people in Southeast Asia, plays a critical role in realizing a truly people-oriented and people-centered ASEAN.
 
 
AIPA can help build the ASEAN community through legal development and harmonization, oversight over the governments, and budgeting to further align national policy and action plans with those of ASEAN. I strongly hope that the results we have achieved at the 43rd AIPA General Assembly are translated into concrete actions. We do our best to serve the interest of our people, the President added.
 
 
In the meantime, Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei HENG SAMRIN said that AIPA can help build the ASEAN Community through the development of legal frameworks and harmonization, government oversight and budgeting in line with national policies and action plans. His country, and through the results of the current General Assembly will be put into practice. The President of the 43rd IPA hopes that all IPA families will do their best to serve the interests of the local people and the world.
 
 
It is informed that before the closing ceremony of the 43rd AIPA General Assembly, the heads of AIPA delegation attending the event were kindly invited to sign the Joint Communiqué.
 
 
As the host, the Parliament of Cambodia also announced the presentation of AIPA Distinguished Service Award to outstanding figures in recognition of their valuable service, excellent contribution, and tireless efforts in pursuing the goals and objectives of AIPA, together with the conferment of the royal order of Cambodia to Her Excellency AIPA Secretary General Nguyen Tuong Van for her huge contribution to the brilliant success of the AIPA-43.
 
 
The closing ceremony of the 43rd AIPA was meaningfully and successfully concluded in spirit of friendship, solidarity and closeness.
 
 
Finally, Cambodian National Assembly and AIPA-43 President Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei HENG SAMRIN transferred the Office of the 44th AIPA Presidency to H.E. Mrs. PUAN MAHARANI, President of the National Assembly of Indonesia.
